Positioned directly on the Bay of Port Lligat and with the Cap de Creus National Park behind, Costa Brava Villa 20114 enjoys a unique and breathtaking location.
Standing on the brow of the pool terrace you take in the sweeping vista of the Bay of Port Lligat, from the house of Salvador Dali with its characteristic eggs and fishermen’s cottages, across the bay dotted with fishing boats, and up the coastline of the Mediterranean to the Cap de Creus Peninsula and National Park.
Just half a mile away is the bustling town of Cadaques, with its distinctive church and many whitewashed houses tumbling down the hillsides around a beautiful horseshoe shaped bay.
Famous for its links with artists of all kinds, from Dali and Picasso, to Lorca and Man Ray, Cadaques retains its charm and relaxed, slightly bohemian atmosphere whilst, at the same time, possessing a sophistication born out of its years of association with intellectuals and creative thinkers.
Staying here you will very quickly understand why Salvador Dali was so inspired by the light and the landscape that he lived and painted in Port Lligat for some 50 years until the death of his wife and muse Gala. Their house, now preserved as a museum, is just 5 minutes walk away around the other side of the bay.
Surrounded by olive trees and built from the natural slate rock on which it stands, the house has been carefully designed to blend in with the landscape.
Entrance is by remote controlled entrance gate with video intercom into a large courtyard area with a magnificent 500 year old olive tree, bougainvillea and rosemary and parking for around 6 cars. There is also plenty of parking available on the road outside. The central area of the courtyard also offers a full sized badminton court.
Overlooking the Bay of Port Lligat is a large terrace with patio seating and dining area, a double fronted fireplace and a large built-in barbeque.
Teak decking surrounds the large infinity pool which has a water jet and cold water shower together with a large Jacuzzi overlooking the bay.
Steps descend down from the decking to an area planted with lemon trees, rosemary and many olive trees.
The entrance portico to the house opens up to an expansive open plan living space with high ceilings, black slate floor with under-floor heating, and large panoramic windows giving magnificent views in all directions. This area is arranged to provide a large space for more formal dining, together with two living areas each with picture windows looking out across the Mediterranean and across the pool terrace and Bay of Port Lligat respectively.
A second lounge area features a large flat screen TV and glass double-fronted fireplace that can be opened both internally and externally out onto the patio/pool terrace. The open plan space can be sectioned off into more intimate areas with an impressive system of discreet sliding wood paneling.
A modern polished wooden staircase takes you down to the next level where there is a private cinema, equipped with surround sound and a large screen back projection facility. The walls have been built into the slate rock giving a wonderful natural backdrop which together with the light provided by an internal courtyard and ‘daylight’ artificial lighting, make this a very exciting space.
The villa is modern in design and style and equipped to the highest standards with wi-fi, satellite TV, under floor heating in the main living spaces, and individual temperature control in every bedroom. Cameras are located around the perimeter of the property providing internet viewing.
On the Ground Floor there is an Entrance into an expansive open plan living space with high ceilings and large panoramic windows, and consisting of a dining area and 2 living areas. Washroom/cloakroom.
There are three wings off from the living space.
The First wing has a magnificent state-of-the-art kitchen with large Smeg oven; second Siemens oven; Siemens microwave; Siemens steam oven; Gaggenau gas hobs x 3; Gaggenau induction hob; Gaggenau charcoal hob; Gaggenau Japanese grill plate; cool air curtain around central cooking area; double fronted Miele fridge and freezer; 2 wine storage/cooler cabinets; 2 dishwashers.
The Second wing has the Master bedroom suite with large picture windows offering views in all directions and sliding picture windows onto pool terrace. Plus large dressing room and two en-suite bathrooms (one with wetroom shower, the other with Jacuzzi bath).

The Third wing has a private hallway leading to two large en-suite bedrooms, one with superking bed (or 2 singles) plus large shower room; the other has a kingsize bed and good sized bath/shower room. Both enjoy sliding patio windows/doors to the side terrace with views up the coastline to Cap de Creus.
Downstairs via a modern polished wooden staircase there is a private cinema/games room.
Off from this area are: Bedrooms 5, 6 and 7, all en-suite and with superking sized beds (or two singles). Each room has double sliding doors to a private patio area and view of the bay.
Bedroom 8 is an internal bedroom with a superking bed (or two singles) and an en-suite shower room.
Paint and art preparation/storage room (could be used as a dark room).
Large laundry room with washing and drying machines.
Passageway to sauna and changing rooms.
Staff can be provided at extra cost including daily maid service, catering, yoga classes and art tuition.
The beach is literally a few minutes walk away. You can walk down the road beside the house from the front gate or go down past the end of the swimming pool and through the gardens where there is a further gate out onto the front of the bay.
The Bay is extremely safe for swimming - it remains quite shallow for a fair distance. There are also a couple of other small bays within a few minutes walk - S'Alqueria Gran and S'Alqueria Petit. Both are safe for swimming.
None of the beaches in that area of the Costa Brava are white sand - some are a mix of sand and pebbles, others are all pebbles. However, it does make the water very clear and there are lots of excellent rocks to swim off as well. Many people rent boats or dinghies - there are lots of very pretty bays to explore. There are also kayaks to rent in the Bay.
Distances: Beach and Bay of Port Lligat 50 metres. Cadaques centre ½ mile (20 minutes walking, 5 minutes car). Figueres 20 kilometres. Girona 40 kilometres. Barcelona 100 kilometres.
