Quite simply the most desirable private villa let in Cape Town.
This totally charming beachside “cottage”, recently fully rebuilt, combines all the attractions of a very private and exclusive Glen Beach setting with the modern day comforts of its elegant but easy Afro-Colonial style interior.
This superb private home occupies a large site that is completely private. It backs onto a tropical mountainside and does not have close neighbors behind it. This privacy is preserved by the luxuriant tropical greenery of its own gardens and by a front wall that rises high above the lower pathway, yet does not interrupt the sea and beach views from the raised site of the house itself. The property also benefits from fine mountain views from its rear.
At the same time it is only feet away from the most discreet, privileged and private sandy beach in Cape Town whose, protected setting means it avoids the very strong winds and sea-glare that can afflict villas above nearby Camps Bay.
Cape Town Villa 20556 is the perfectly placed Cape Town seaside villa, whose interior has now been renovated and upgraded to cater for the most discerning clients and to position this property as the most appealing holiday home in South Africa.
The beauty of it’s blend of “cottage-like” character and charm, it’s luxurious spa-like tropical ambience, and sense of private space, it’s seaside spirit, views and light, and it’s chic interior styling and comfort.
In truth, this is a very spacious private home, offering four large en suite double bedrooms (two with stunning sea views through the trees), two single bedrooms, a large lounge on the lower ground floor, another main lounge and separate TV lounge on the ground floor and a fourth private lounge in its first floor bedroom suite, which also has large decks on three sides.
There is a spacious office on the first floor with great sea and mountain views, backed up by a large boardroom on the lower ground floor.
There are also two kitchens.
All rooms have great natural light, except the wine cellar.
The 16 meter swimming pool has it’s own pool room, sundecks and sauna that are in a separate zone from the house. Massage table and exercise bikes are in the poolroom.
All in all, the house offers a dozen different indoor and outdoor relaxation zones, all of which are completely private.
The dark wooden floors, with scattered Persian rugs and zebra skin rugs, have great character and are warmer and softer than the marble and travertine of the more modern properties.
The house is in a completely different league from any other villas on the Atlantic Seaboard, in that it has retained a classic colonial feel with a touch of Afro-chic and while it is just a few steps from the beach it avoids all the usual inconveniences of a beach cottage, by being deceptively spacious, completely private and secure, has ample parking and a large garden, pool, pool house, with no neighbours in sight, as there is a greenbelt on both sides of the house, as well as being surrounded by lush vegetation.
The main bedroom suite takes up the entire top floor with 140 square meters and decks on 3 sides. It has 360 views of the mountains, beaches and sea, and is just exquisite. It is also completely private with no overlooking neighbors.
The villa’s spacious balconies have been designed to extend its living area into a comfortable indoor/outdoor flow. All balconies are incredibly private. The East Balcony is hidden in trees and although it faces onto the back garden it is invisible from it. The South Balcony can be seen only from the front deck and this is not an area that staff will traverse. It is partly visible from the beach, but it is sufficiently far away for this not to be an issue. The West Balcony can only be seen by surfers who are 150 meters away. Apart from that it is completely hidden by the vegetation. It has also been covered to allow for the placement of a comfortable daybed and respite from the hot afternoon sun.
The villa has therefore been designed to offer a morning deck (East Balcony); one that looks over Camps Bay beach, the Twelve Apostles Mountain range (South Balcony) and faces into the summer sunset and a third balcony that looks out to sea over Glen Beach and gets the afternoon sunshine plus the winter sunset.
Outside the house, there over 200 mature trees and bushes along the boundaries and at strategic points outside of the property, up to 100 meters away, to ensure that no one can see into any windows from the surrounding neighbours, greenbelts or street behind.
The villa’s owners have created the Cape Cod style cottage utilizing all natural materials and mixing the both classic and modern elements. Using appropriate quality furnishings throughout, taking care to select items that fit the mood of each section of the house. Giving the house a unique combination of styles.
The furnishing will reflect an elegant Afro-chic style with a touch of colonial grandeur. This will be very similar to the previous cottage utilizing existing furnishings where practical and upgrading wherever necessary.
The property is better suited to a client who travels in a smaller group or with their family and staff and is looking for a beautiful tranquil environment in closer proximity to nature, beaches and the up market Camps Bay restaurants.
The Third Floor has 160 square meters including balconies. There is a Lounge, Study, Bedroom with Ensuite Bathroom and 3 balconies.
The Second Floor has 160 square meters. There is a Lounge, TV Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Bedroom with Ensuite Bathroom, Guest toilet with shower.
The First Floor has 230 square meters. There is a Lounge, Dining Room, Kitchen, Boardroom, 3 Bedrooms, 2 with Ensuite Bathroom, Additional Bathroom, Wine Cellar, Laundry, 2 Staff Quarters.
There is a Double garage. Also a Pool Room with shower and toilet, Treatment Room, Workshop, and Security Control Room.
The Garden: offers over 1000 square meters of land with greenbelts on both sides.
There is also a 16 meter heated swimming pool, sauna, outdoor showers on front deck and next to sauna, covered BBQ Boma.
There is also a 24 hour Security System in place.
Full Staffing is available as requested.
The Beach is only 30 meters walk down a luxuriant palm covered pathway.
The Restaurants are at 300 meters walk along the beach.
This villa excels in the three key criteria that make for a great villa. Clifton and Bantry Bay are the exclusive seaside suburbs of Cape Town, given that they are wind free and built on a steep slope where views are protected indefinitely, there is limited availability of space and therefore increased demand, and most properties are close to the ocean.
Camps Bay however has a large open beach and the restaurants, shops and bars that give it the reputation as the Cote d’Azur of South Africa and is therefore popular with tourists.
Clifton and Bantry Bay are more popular with the wealthy families from J’burg (and expats from London) who network on the smaller exclusive Clifton 1st or 2nd Beach, or while walking/jogging in the main road running alongside the ocean.
The villa straddles the best of both worlds in that it is protected from the South Easter, on an exclusive beach (Glen Beach), next door to the better know Camps Bay beach and within easy walking distance to the popular and wind free Clifton beaches. It is also a 5 minute walk along the beach to the bars and restaurants, as well as being in the perfect position to escape the traffic that gridlocks Clifton and Camps Bay during the Xmas holidays and most weekends in summer.
