Tuscany Villa 20593 stands on a hill, dominating the typical Tuscan countryside, with a 360 degree view of the slopes of the hills covered in woods, olive groves and vineyards, and with the unmistakable silhouette of the towers of San Gimignano in the distance, Villa Colle di Monti is a charming home, renovated with loving care and respect for its ancient origins by the current owners.
On this spot, which due to its strategic position is one of the most important sites in the Val d'Elsa both historically and architecturally, since etruscan times both nobles and prelates have lived here and in the renaissance it was an important centre for humanistic studies, until finally in the last century it became an attractive rural hamlet.
Everything possible has been done to preserve its refined and exclusive atmosphere, yet at the same time making it warm and welcoming, so as to host in large, light rooms a limited number of guests looking for tranquility and for the enjoyment of the slow rhythms of nature.
The floors and ceilings are in old, handmade terracotta, and the beams are of chestnut wood; the arches, the vaults and the beautiful chimneypieces, together with the antique furniture, family pictures and objects and the warm, precious materials, create an atmosphere where all the charm of the old country home has remained intact.
The bedrooms all have their own particular characteristics and are all different from one another, with private bathroom with hairdryer and equipped with mosquito netting, air-conditioning and safe deposit-box and all with a splendid view.
The villa looks onto a well-maintained, terraced garden and is surrounded by 12 hectacres of farmland, producing olive-oil, San Gimignano zafferano, cereals and aromatic herbs.
On the edge of the olive grove is a nice swimming pool (6x12m) with a patio furnished with sun beds and a pergola for shade, where you can relax and allow your gaze to lose itself in the surrounding hills and woods and the silhouette of the towers on the horizon.
In the next-door house, without intruding on your privacy, live the owners, who welcome guests personally with a snack made up of salamis, cheese and typical local wine: they will always be discreetly available for any necessity and suggestion to help you discover the art and historical treasures, and the local wines and restaurants.
The owners are knowledgeable art and culture lovers and have prepared for guests a series of interesting programs (ask when booking) involving visits, with specialized guides, to art towns, preceded by preparatory readings in the Villa, conversations or readings about Italian art, theme lessons about the great periods in the history of Italian art from the middle ages up to the present time, workshops on the techniques used in the middle ages and renaissance, photographic courses and much more.
