Full staff of chef, waitstaff, housekeepers, boat and watersports personnel, and property manager. Harbour Island is an environment and way of life that is truly other worldly. Only five miles long and less than one mile wide, there are no traffic lights and virtually no cars. The preferred mode of transportation, on its narrow roads and friendly unpaved paths, is the golf cart. The charming streets of Dunmore Town feel like colonial New England, and there’s rich history to see in the island’s old churches and centuries-old homes. A tiny hideaway with centuries of colonial history, as colorful as the cottages that surround its charming harbor. The island is a quirky, off-the-beaten path little hideaway. It became known to an interestingly international set just a few years ago and now enjoys the kind of cachet that can come only from quiet word-of-mouth recommendation. Along the bay side of this tiny island are cute shops, cozy restaurants and colorful shacks. The highlight of the bay side of the island is its only town, Dunmore, less than 10 minutes by golf cart from the ocean side. Fishing and sailboats dock here alongside the water taxis that shuttle locals and visitors to and from Eleuthera. The estate is situated on Pink Sand Beach, which runs the entire length of the island and is virtually a football-field wide. Often, on a long morning walk, one will have this magnificent stretch of beach all to oneself.
About 225 miles southeast of Miami, Harbour Island is just two miles east of the island of Eleuthera, into which there are daily flights from Ft. Lauderdale as well as Miami.
Flights can also be booked to Nassau, with a connection to (North) Eleuthera.
This hideway island is less than five miles long and one-half mile wide.
