FLORIDA KEYS PRIVATE ISLAND RESORT & SPA 7798, a 5-acre island located 3 miles offshore in the Atlantic and 28 miles east of historic Key West, sits at the entrance to Newfoundland Harbor, where the fast running tides help create its unique white sandy beach and deep water dockage. Over 250 Jamaican tall coconut palms, planted 65 years ago by its first inhabitant, Newton Munson, grace its shoreline profile. Munson, grace its shoreline profile. Standing on our main dock and looking west, you’ll see Loggerhead Key, home to 2,000 Rhesus monkeys. Due south three miles is Looe Key -- a must for snorkelers and divers -- where the HMS LOOE sank in 1744 after hitting one of the world’s prettiest reefs.
Little Palm Island is and exquisite, private luxury resort occupying a tropical island, three miles off shore in the Lower Florida Keys. Established in 1988, the casually elegant enclave has been widely hailed as one of the finest vacation resorts in the world.
The resort is located at the western end of the Newfound Harbor Keys, where the gulf of Mexico meets the Straits of Florida. Little Palm Island is a 15-minute launch ride from its Shore Station on Little Torch Key.
Little Palm Island accommodates its guests in 28 suites housed in thatched-roof villas scattered throughout the property amid dense tropical foliage, flowers, and hundreds of soaring Jamaican coconut palms. each bungalow houses two handsomely-appointed one-bedroom suites. New to the Island in August 1999 are two Island Grand Suites, which boast nearly double the square footage of the bungalow suite, his and hers bathrooms, slate floors, outdoor hot tub, and the Island’s best ocean views.
Each oceanfront suite is private with a wraparound sundeck. Accommodations include a comfortable living room and an expansive bedroom with a king-size bed (featuring for-affect-only mosquito netting) and a sitting area, furnished with a writing desk. The lavishly equipped dressing area and the bathroom, which boasts a whirlpool bath, leads directly to a bamboo-fenced, totally private outdoor shower.
Decorated in British colonial furniture and accented with Caribbean influences, each suite offers every modern comfort and convenience, except television sets, telephones and alarm clocks, which are virtually barred on the island. Among the many amenities are a fully-stocked mini-bar, and coffee maker.
The Dining Room at Little Palm Island was rated #1 in the “Top Restaurant” category in Monroe County by the Zagat Survey; and number in the categories of “Top Food,” “Top Decor,” and “tope Service” among all Monroe County restaurants. In addition, the cozy, relaxed and romantic restaurant was rated number two in Monroe County for “Most Popular Restaurant.”
Once a rustic fishing camp lodge and retreat, it is now the home of Little Palm Island’s gracious and highly-regarded Dining Room. It serves the outstanding gourmet cuisine of Executive Chef, Adam Votaw. highly innovative, the menu offers an exciting blend of “Floribbean” cuisine with French and Asian undertones.
Serving Breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Dining Room is open to non-guests on a strict, reservations-only basis. Guests may dine indoors, on its spacious terrace, or a few steps below on the resorts exquisite sandy beach.
On Sundays, the famous tropical Sunday Brunch buffet attracts diners from near and far. Gala events include a bountiful gourmet thanksgiving Dinner and a fabulous New Year’s Eve extravaganza.
Resort guests may also order breakfast to bed served in their suite. An eclectic suite service menu features detectable snacks and appetizers, exotic tropical drinks and gourmet sweets. refreshments are also available from the poolside Palapa Bar or the Monkey lounge while watching the sunset is a nightly ritual. The resort offers two different dining plans to fit all appetites. The Full-American meal plan includes three meals, per person, per day; and the Modified-American meal plan includes breakfast or lunch and dinner.
The Island Spa, offers an excellent variety of treatment including various massage therapies, body treatments, Indonesian rituals, and facial and skin care. Treatments can be performed in your suite, outdoors or in the Island Spa.
Car Transfers are available to the Little Torch Key Shore Station from all south Florida airports. Once guests arrive at the Shore Station, they bard our solid mahogany motor launches , and are escorted t the Island.
Little palm Island is an elegant, friendly oasis for seafarers, traversing the Gulf and Atlantic. A wonderful place to stop off, relax on dry land, dine on fine wines and exceptional cuisine. the marina slips will accommodate vessels up to 120-feet in length with a draft up to 6-feet.
A wealth of water sports and recreational amenities are offered for the enjoyment of resort guests. Amount them are the lagoon-like freshwater pool and waterfall, surrounded by an arbor of trees, plants, exotic birds, fish, and flowers; and a strip of beach boasting spun-sugar soft white sand. there is complimentary use of the fitness center, life-size chess set, day sailors, kayaks and sailboats, as well as rods and reels for fishing and masks and fins for snorkeling. Pontoon and fishing boats can be rented.
Arrangements can be made for scuba diving, snorkeling, back country and deep sea fishing instructions, as well as guided nature tours by canoe or sailing boats. Several off-shore and mainland excursions are also available. A highlight for divers is the trip to nearby Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary, where they can explore the wonders of the last coral reef in North America.
