Virgin Gorda Villa 7966, completed at the turn of the millennium, is already among the most beautiful and spectacular holiday domiciles in the British Virgin Islands.
Built by the renown British architect Michael Helm, whose buildings are often featured in Architectural Digest magazine, this property is yet another masterpiece of superb design.
Situated on the west side of Virgin Gorda on a rocky outcrop directly above the sea between Mahoe Bay and Pond Bay, the villa offers breathtaking ocean views over Sir Francis Drake Channel where you can see the Caribbean as well as the Atlantic.
From the villa's own infinity swimming pool, you can look across turquoise blue, shimmering water to Tortola and the neighboring Dog Islands.
Situated in a secluded, small holiday village in it's own right, the villa includes the main house in pyramid shape, four large suites, and an additional, even more spacious master bedroom, each with an en-suite bath and private verandah with breathtaking sea views.
The pyramid-shaped main house, visible from far offshore, is eleven meters (34') high and offers space for social gatherings as well as reclusion on three levels.
The lowest level features a superbly decorated living area with comfortable English couches, teak dining table seating up to 14 people, BOSE stereo system with an extensive CD collection, and a professional kitchen meeting the most exacting standards.
Outdoor living and dining verandahs surround these Great house interior areas.
A staircase takes you to the Gallery on the second floor with a library, wide-screen TV, and four comfortable loungers which can be made into additional beds. Part of the room overlooks the dining and living area while the other side has large windows for viewing the sea and Virgin Gorda. Guests will find the Gallery a special place to relax, play games, and watch videos.
A steep steel ladder allows access to the very highest point of the villa and you will find the "Crow's Nest" at the top of the pyramid on the third level, an ideal vantage point to observe the star-studded night sky. Big pillows are scattered here and there on the Persian carpet; a hammock allows for private and peaceful escape.
Wide verandahs surround the main house and provide clusters of gathering areas. A breakfast corner overlooks Mango Bay beach and sea; hammocks allow for peaceful relaxing, and a pair of hanging swings face "sky seats". One verandah features an outdoor bar overlooking the pool deck.
Through the inner courtyard with it's lemon trees and flower gardens, past an unusual sculpture by Jörg Siegele of Germany, you reach the four guest suites and separate master bedroom.
All four suites are identical in size and furnishings. Each has a private shaded verandah with lounge chairs and breathtaking sea views. Two overlook Savannah Bay and Virgin Gorda's Valley, while the others view Mango Bay and the Dog Islands.
Each suite has a ceiling fan, air-conditioning, AIWA CD player, coral sandstone floors, and a spacious bathroom featuring a shower with fitted bench, toilet, and bidet. The hand-crafted teak bed has a king-sized mattress of hygienic, anti-allergic, and ergonomically beneficial latex foam.
The separate master bedroom suite can be rented in addition to the four other suites; it is privately located a short distance away from and slightly above the other buildings, with its own panoramic views.
The suite has a large bedroom with sitting area, spacious bathroom complex, plus a kitchenette concealed within a teak hutch. The master king-sized bed is centered in the room and faces beautiful Savannah Bay.
The master bathroom area features a large terrace with a koi pond, an open-air shower and an deep soaking tub sunk into the rocks - a special attraction of the master bedroom, especially at night.
Paths to the private coral sand beach of Mahoe Bay or to the adjacent Savannah Bay can be reached easily on foot or by rental car.
A pier and the Italian restaurant "Giorgio's Table" are found at the base of the rock on which the Villa is situated.
The Villa is not only an architectural masterpiece of exterior design, but all interior rooms have also been designed with special care, using carefully selected furniture, art, and antiques, the finest porcelain, French bed linen and towels.
The Villa's own management & guest services provide comprehensive services, a full-day housekeeper, and a gardener who looks after the pool, the garden, and the area surrounding the house. A chef can be hired on request; a rental car is recommended. Baby sitters can be arranged.
Guests have three nearby beaches to enjoy. Mahoe Bay Beach is a five minute walk down the hill, or you might prefer to drive there. Snorkeling gear, beach volleyball set, badminton, and beach toys are available at the villa; hours can be spent playing on the beaches or snorkeling the protected reefs in calm waters. Beautiful Pond and Savannah Bay beaches are only a five minute ride away.
And if you feel like going out and exploring Virgin Gorda: the Villa is a 15 minute drive away from the famous 5-star resort Little Dix Bay where you will find a choice of three excellent restaurants. The "Rock Cafe“, "Chez Bamboo“ and "Mine Shaft“, each offering different menu specialties, are also within easy reach.
Spanish Town in Virgin Gorda's Valley and Leverick Bay in the North Sound offer the holiday-maker everything he or she may require, while still enjoying the characteristic leisurely pace of the island and the friendliness of the local people.
