This Cottage is situated at the exclusive seaside enclave of Glen Beach which, tucked under the palm trees between Clifton and Camps Bay, is probably Cape Town’s smallest suburb. Comprising some nine cottages, this is as close as one gets to having your own private beach, although on the edge of a major city. This superb property conveys an ambience of island living, reinforced by the view of the Atlantic through a window of tropical palms.
The cottage has been very cleverly and beautifully converted to create a spacious and luxurious home, without losing the character of the original bungalow. A relaxed feel has been retained, while splashes of luxury prevent it from being too informal. The look is part colonial, part Afro-Caribbean chic. The rooms have been furnished in an eclectic mix of comfortable furniture, interesting pieces and collected fabrics. Here you will find a crystal chandelier happily ensconced in a beach cottage.
Wood is predominant in both the interiors and the exterior, from the front deck which overlooks the beach to the swimming pool in the back garden, which is clad, as is the house, in grey-white wood. A major advantage of staying at Dolphin Cottage is resident man-Friday Mr. Sam Banda, butler-chef-housekeeper. Mr. Banda is always on hand to look after the needs of guests, from beautifully prepared candlelight dinners on the deck, to a picnic on the beach or cocktails by the pool.
Lower Ground Floor offers Large open-plan living/dining room. 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. 1 twin bedroom. 1 bedroom with double bunk bed. Fully equipped kitchenette. Courtyard area for dining.
Ground Floor offers Large open-plan living/dining room, opening onto deck with sea views. Fully serviced kitchen. Guest shower and WC. Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and sea views. Study with writing desk, music centre and phone/fax. Spacious deck with outside furnished living area and open-air shower, and sea views.
First Floor offers Spacious attic bedroom/sitting room with stunning views of the sea (serviced by guest shower and WC on the ground floor).
Satellite TV and Video are available on each floor and there are heated towel rails in the bathrooms.
STAFF of Full time services of housekeeper/butler/cook. Guests laundry is outsourced at additional charge. Additional services can also be arranged with notice (e.g. nanny, chauffer).
