Featured in World of Interiors (March 2000) and Caledonia (June 2000) and described as ëa location to die forí, Scotland Castle 8676 is romantically situated on the most easterly tip of Ross & Cromarty in a land that time forgot. This 16th century triple towered castle is perched on a coastal promontory overlooking the North Sea where bottle-nosed dolphins frolic on occasion in the summer. Dramatic and atmospheric, the Castle with its stone spiral staircases, beautiful colour schemes and its highly imaginative layout of rooms is possibly one of Scotlandís most challenging restorations. Built in 1590 by the Earls of Ross and later acquired by the Earls of Cromarty, it was occupied until the early 1800s. Now occupied mainly as a family home, it is available for exclusive private rental for only a few weeks of the year for those seeking the ultimate Scottish experience. (The stone spiral staircases are steep and narrow and should be a consideration for those with small children or those who find stairs difficult).
