England Mansion 9681 was built in the Palladian style in 1730 by the Fortescue family and has been entertaining guests from around the world ever since.
Set in the heart of Devon with stunning gardens, grounds and facilities, this mansion provides the most superb location for corporate entertaining, driven pheasant shooting, golf, weddings and of course the ultimate exclusive private retreat for friends and family.
All of the 8 guest rooms each have private ensuite bathrooms and 3 of them have their own Dressing Room to form a small suite.
The House stands in over 5,000 acres of private Estate overlooking the Grade 1 Listed Park with wonderful views to the follies and eyecatchers.
The Gardens are predominantly Spring gardens with camelias, magnolias, rhododendrons and azaleas and there is a new Millennium Summer garden with lavender edged herbaceous borders.
The mansion is the most gorgeous setting for so many outdoor activities and the large and gracious reception rooms form the most elegant backdrop for dinner parties, weddings, shooting weekends and exploring the magnificent coastline and delights of Devon.
Providing a very discreet and exclusive location for entertaining - whether it is for large groups or small informal gatherings, Board Meetings, incentive trips or just a chance to get away and mix business with pleasure in the most delightful part of the country.
The Red Dining Room is a magnificent venue for banquets and buffets for groups of between 20 and 70. Dinner parties for 12 guests can enjoy the less formal, more intimate atmosphere of The Arran Room. With the addition of a marquee, up to 300 guests can eat, drink and enjoy spectacular views over the 18th Century terraces and Park. This mansion also hosts fashion and film shoots, musical evenings, company family days and product launches.
Around North Devon, within 1 hour, are some very famous gardens. Rossmoor, Knightshayes, Marwood, Hartland Abbey and a variety of good houses whose owners are delighted to give private visits and lunches or teas. Exmoor is also within easy reach. There is excellent riding and fishing available on the Estate which is completely private with fox and stag hunting locally. There are some gorgeous beaches within 40 minutes and a Championship Golf Course at Saunton Sands about 30 minutes drive away.
Activities include the following: Ancestral Homes - There are plenty of superb Houses of Historical and Cultural importance within 40 minutes drive and an abundance of exquisite Gardens which are open to the public and also some where the owners are delighted to give private visits and offer lunch and teas.
Archery - “Archers everywhere in Devon” - and what better way to pass the time of day than to either watch demonstrations of archery or take part with fully qualified local instructors.
Boat Trips - Both the north and south Devon coastline is littered with small, charming fishing villages where one can take boat trips to nearby islands or simply along the varied and rugged coastline - watching sea birds, seals and many other aquatic animals and birds.
Cycling - Devon is a wonderful cycling county with winding country lanes and views over downs and fields and ancient woodlands towards the sea. Bicycles, tandems and tricycles can be hired and delivered to the House and plans and routes prepared to keep everyone on the beaten track.
Within 1 hour's drive there are some very famous gardens. Rosemoor, Knightshayes, Marwood, Hartland Abbey and a variety of good houses whose owners are delighted to give private visits and lunches and teas.
